Male Breast Reduction (Gynaecomastia Correction) Before and After Photos

Gynaecomastia is a condition of overdeveloped or enlarged breasts in men. A male breast reduction can address this condition by removing excess breast tissue and skin.

Take the time to look at our gynaecomastia correction before and after photos to see Dr Norris’ work.

The outcomes shown are only relevant for this patient and do not necessarily reflect the results other patients may experience. Results may vary due to many factors, including the individual’s genetics and lifestyle.

The Gynaecomastia Procedure

A gynaecomastia correction takes around two hours to complete and is performed under general anaesthesia. Gynaecomastia surgery can be performed using one of two different techniques: liposuction or excision.

The liposuction technique involves inserting a cannula, a thin, hollow tube, through several small incisions. The cannula is moved back and forth in a controlled motion to loosen and remove the excess fat from the body through vacuum suction.

With the excision technique, Dr Norris will make a small incision around the areola to remove excess tissue rather than suctioning it out.

Suitable Candidates for Gynaecomastia Correction

At Form and Face Clinic in Sydney, the first step to determining candidacy for gynaecomastia correction is to have a consultation with Dr Norris. Suitable candidates have:

  • Unsuccessful results from alternative medical treatments aimed at addressing the condition
  • Physical discomfort attributed to breast size
  • Stabilised breast development, indicating no recent changes in size or shape
  • Good overall physical health
  • Realistic anticipations regarding the surgical outcome

What to Expect After Gynaecomastia Surgery

Dr Norris will apply dressings or bandages to your incisions after surgery. A small, thin tube may also be placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid in the days after the procedure. You will also need to wear a compression garment to help support the breasts as they heal.

Following gynaecomastia surgery, you will need to take some time off work to rest. However, most patients are able to return to all normal activities, with the exception of strenuous exercise, within two weeks.
