Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) Before and After Photos
Many of us strive for a flat, well-toned abdomen, however age, pregnancy and weight fluctuations can leave us with a loose and protruding abdomen, no matter how good our diet and exercise routine is. A tummy tuck aims to remove excess skin and fat, as well as restore weakened or separated abdominal muscles. If you are hoping to restore a firmer and more shapely abdomen, take the time to look at our tummy tuck before and after photos to see if Dr Norris’ work appeals to you.
The outcomes shown are only relevant for this patient and do not necessarily reflect the results other patients may experience, as results may vary due to many factors including the individual’s genetics, diet and exercise.
The abdominoplasty procedure
A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, takes one to three hours to complete and is performed under general anaesthesia. Dr Norris will make an incision across the lower abdomen, just above the pubic bone, and another may be required around the navel. This will allow Dr Norris to tighten and repair weakened abdominal muscles. He will then trim excess skin and close the remaining skin with sutures.
Potential candidates for abdominoplasty
At Form and Face clinic in Sydney, the first step to determining whether you are a candidate for abdominoplasty is to have a consultation with Dr Norris. You are a potential candidate if:
You have lax or excessive abdominal skin due to pregnancy or weight loss
You have a high level of fatty deposits around your abdomen
You have dissatisfied with the appearance of your abdomen
You are physically healthy
You have realistic expectations
What to expect after abdominoplasty
Dr Norris will apply a dressing or bandage to your incisions after your abdominoplasty procedure. A small, thin tube may also be placed under the skin to drain any excess fluid or blood in the days following surgery. Dr Norris may also wrap you in a compression garment to control swelling and support your abdomen as it heals.
You will need to take some time off work to rest following your abdominoplasty, however most patients are able to return to all normal activities, with the exception of strenuous exercise, within three weeks.
