Dr Norris endeavours to provide consistent and personalised care to each patient, both in the early stages of your surgery journey and postoperatively. Dr Norris has over 20 years of operational experience, with particular skill in plastic surgery for the breasts, body and face. As a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a focus in cosmetic surgery, he is qualified to complete your abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) with the precision of a plastic surgeon. Dr Norris aims to leave you feeling comfortable and informed, as he understands the importance of involving patients every step of the way with the procedure.
Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) can be a reconstructive or cosmetic surgery. It can treat many problems with the abdomen, such as impacted mobility or function, or skin irritation caused by excess skin. Patients that are looking to repair their abdominal muscles can also have abdominoplasty surgery to rejoin, strengthen and improve the function of their stomach muscles. The surgery targets the specific goals and desired results of the patient, whether they are seeking surgery due to pregnancy, extreme weight loss and gain, diseases or trauma.
A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, can be performed in two ways: a full abdominoplasty and a partial abdominoplasty. The procedure is usually performed under general anaesthesia or full sedation as it is an invasive surgery. Depending on the type of surgery and the extent, an abdominoplasty can take up to three hours.
Full abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) removes excess skin and tightens the muscles across the whole abdomen. A full abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) begins with your surgeon making a curved incision across the public hairline from hip bone to hip bone. The excess skin and fatty tissue are lifted to reach the separated muscles which are stitched tightly together to avoid further trauma. The excess fatty tissue is then removed before the excess skin is trimmed to size. The navel is repositioned before the stomach is then stitched shut. A partial abdominoplasty only tightens the lower abdomen muscles and removes excess skin below the navel. This procedure is performed on those with less skin and fat to be removed.
After the procedure you will undergo an extensive recovery process and will be supported in your journey by Dr. Norris and the Form and Face team. Post surgery you will be fitted with a drain to remove any fluid build-up. Expect some bruising, swelling, initial skin numbness, pain, and discomfort during the healing process. Initially, standing straight may be difficult, but as your abdominal muscles heal, your mobility will improve. You will be dressed in bandages and a compression garment to reduce swelling and protect the wound. Dr. Norris will remove the drain at your follow-up appointment and assess your progress.
Dr. Norris provides a Lifetime Followup Guarantee to all patients of Form and Face so that you can feel supported throughout the recovery process and beyond.
