The Blepharoplasty Procedure

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, takes one to two hours to complete and is performed under general anaesthesia. During the procedure, Dr Norris will make an incision in the natural crease on the upper eyelid or, in the case of lower blepharoplasty, underneath the lower lash line. Dr Norris will remove excess fat and trim any excess skin and lax muscles from the eyelids through these incisions. He will then close the incisions with fine sutures. These will be removed by Dr Norris at a post-operative visit five days after the eyelid surgery.

Suitable Candidates for Eyelid Surgery

• Laxity or excess skin on the upper eyelids
• Excess volume in the upper eyelids

• Impaired vision due to excess eyelid skin

What to Expect After Blepharoplasty

After the procedure, Dr Norris will apply a lubricating ointment and gauze to your eyelids. You must strictly apply sun protection and wear dark-tinted sunglasses until your eyes have fully healed.

You will need to take some time off work to rest following blepharoplasty. However, most patients are able to return to all normal activities, except strenuous exercise, within two weeks.
