Platelet Rich Plasma information (vampire facial)

What is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a natural injectable treatment that we offer at our clinics in Sydney to combat ageing. The procedure involves using a small amount of your own blood that is separated in a centrifuge, leaving behind the “plasma,” which is rich in growth factors and proteins. This plasma is then injected back into the areas of concern. PRP has the highest concentration of growth factors for stimulating stem cells, leading to collagen production, soft tissue healing, skin rejuvenation, and increased hair growth when injected into the scalp. In sports medicine, PRP is also used for joint, ligament, and tendon repair, as well as encouraging the repair of burn wounds.

What is the procedure for PRP?

  • A numbing cream is applied topically 30 minutes before the procedure.
  • A small blood sample is collected in specially designed tubes.
  • It is then spun in a centrifuge to separate your plasma and red blood cells.
  • The platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the treatment area via small needles and/ or a super-fine cannula to minimise bruising.
  • Your platelets will then release growth factors to stimulate cells to regenerate new collagen.
  • This treatment can also be combined with a beauty booster using hyaluronic acid, muscle relaxant, and skin needling.

The outcomes shown are only relevant for this patient and do not necessarily reflect the results other patients may experience. Results may vary due to many factors, including the individual’s genetics and lifestyle.

  • Three treatments are needed: 1 treatment at 4 to 6-week intervals.
  • Results are maintained at 6 – 12 month intervals, depending on your age and skin condition.
  • Results are gradual because PRP needs time for collagen production to take effect.
  • Results will be visible in two weeks. Full results are seen four months after your third treatment.
  • No two clients will experience the same results. Therefore, a personalised plan is required.

Who are good candidates for PRP?

A consultation is required to determine whether a patient is suited for PRP treatment. During this period, the practitioner will assess factors such as the patient’s overall health and goals. Suitable candidates want to address signs of ageing, such as wrinkles, fine lines, and hair loss or thinning. In addition, they must be in good health and have realistic expectations regarding the treatment.
